Top of the Line: 2012 Chrysler 300 Luxury Series Starts at $40,970

Chrysler has added a dollop of luxury onto its 300 sedan with the Luxury Series trim to generate its new flagship. It has now also assigned a value to the 2012 300 Luxury Series: a V-6-powered, rear-wheel drive version will set you back $40,970, such as a $825 destination charge.

If the concept of a range-topping 300 sounds familiar, but the Luxury Series name doesn’t, you’re forgiven: the automobile was actually announced last spring at the New York automobile show, but dubbed the Executive Series. Regardless of the name alter, the Luxury Series builds on an already-impressive 300 by adding a lot of premium interior and exterior equipment to the package.

Luxury Series cars are differentiated outside with painted aluminum wheels, platinum (brushed) chrome trim, and a mesh grille. Polished wheels – either 19- or 20-inches in diameter – also support dress up the interior. Inside, passengers are treated to either black or two-tone mochachino Poltrona Frau “Foligno” leather swathed across the seats, dashboard, center console, and door panels. Heated and cooled front seats are standard, as are heated rear seats. The steering wheel is trimmed in matching leather, and boasts each metal paddle shifters and a chrome accent ring special to the Luxury Series. Matte natural pore mocha wood trim and 18-ounce Berber carpet floor mats complete the 300’s upscale transformation.

The 300 Luxury Series will be available with either the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 or the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8. The V-6 is rated at 292 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, and is paired with Chrysler’s new ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission. The V-8 is superior for 363 hp and 394 lb-ft and comes with the brand’s five-speed automatic. Each engines are out there with all-wheel drive.

That $40,970 beginning price nets buyers a 2012 300 Luxury Series equipped with the 3.6-liter V-6 and rear-wheel drive. The Hemi-powered 300C Luxury Series model begins at $43,720. All-wheel-drive V-6 and V-8 models are priced from $43,320 and $46,070, respectively. The 2012 Chrysler 300 and 300C Luxury Series will go on sale in the initially quarter of subsequent year.
